i’m 51 years old. i have two girls ages 29 and 24. one lives near me in a condo and the other lives across the country in california. my husband and i love to travel and spend every extra dime on it. we dabble in ebay and use the profits to fund the trips. we try to take two trips a year. our last trip was a 7 night cruise to the caribbean. (thanks ebay!) we moved to florida from wisconsin in july of 2003. we love shoveling sunshine! i started on the internet in 1996 and found that i was just about the only person that could record complete songs to wav format. not only that but i could make the wavs much smaller than most folks. you need to remember how young the net was at that time and there was no such thing as mp3’s. so i started a web site and posted my songs for download. in 1999 i began to play with making desktop themes. i just loved the art of it! it just seemed natural to name the theme the name of the song I use. i began and still to this day make a desktop theme as I want one to be. not a lot of sound events. those can get pretty irritating really fast. i don’t change the font of your computer. i don’t want my font of choice changed so I leave the choice up to you. some of the fonts are really hard to read and don’t go well with bifocals! as years passed i got bigger and better graphic programs and improved at making them. bigger and better programs means bigger and better puters to use them. my puter right now is a 3 gig pentium 4 hyper-thread with 200 gigs of hard drives and over a gig of memory. i have to replace at least every three years. making themes is a very expensive hobby! you notice there are no ads on my site and everything is free (except the cd's i offer just to make a bit of extra money to support my habit.) this is because i love it so much. so which came first, the song or the picture? now that i'm making 3d and can make a wallpaper of just about anything, the song does. i'll listen to a tune and begin to envision a wallpaper. but it all begins with the music. i work full-time yet still manage to put a new enhancement set every now and again up for download. i don’t have any helpers. all the blame can go to me. (but i must thank babytype for being the "keeper of the speadsheets." she lives many states away and we've never met. she keeps an eye on my site and updates on spreadsheets what i put up. what a blessing she is!) why the name dmblnd? about 15 years ago i began playing the trivia game that you might have seen in bars called ntn and needed a 6 letter handle. that’s how the name dmblnd came about. i still play every monday and thursday night. it’s always fun to hear someone say “how can someone named dmblnd win?” and yes, it stands for dumb blonde, not dumb and blind! i hope you enjoy my work and check back often for new content. tell your friends to come visit too! |
